Recommended Reading

This is a great read for any adults working with young people especially teachers  in a secondary school. If you are looking to reform your behaviour policy or develop  new school systems this is a must read, before you start

I wouldn't call this a 'little' book, it is not an easy read and one that you need to focus on and would only make sense after learning about attachment theory. It gives examples of how to talk to 'patients using Pace

This is a book recommended for everyone and anyone. My son read this when he was 11 and enjoyed it. It gives you confidence about how you think and makes you think about unconscious bias. If you are looking to build self confidence this is an intersting start.

The follow on from when the adults change. These are both very easy to read and both come in audio books.  This book helps to embed ideas from the first book also a very good reminder of key points.

A highly recommended read about trauma and how it effects the development of the brain and how it sits in the body. The focus is more on trauma in adults but very interesting .  This is a long read and one that you may need to keep coming back to, not one that I would read in onego

This book discusses about talent and the  power of practice. A great read to inspire anyone on how to prefect your skill but also how to speak to young people about building talent. An easy read.

Very engaging and easy to read, this focuses on holding high expectations for all students and having clear expectations, systems and procedures. Some of the same messages as Pail Dix but from a different angle.

What is says on the cover, a good overview of the brain and how the brain works, this is designed for anyone who is interested  in the structure of the brain

A fascinating read, however this is more an emotional connection rather than anything scientific. It is a story about how a man has overcome addiction to run a successful business whilst still helping others in need.

A fascinating read! There are lots of studies about how a child's brain develops depending on how they were bought up and how the palscisity of the brain allow some young people another chance to building successful relationships

A parents struggle to get the right support for their child and their views along the way, it is very sweary but in a light hearted way. It is a must read from professionals to truly understand a parents perspective.

A book that looks at what 'normal' actually is and a discussion of mental health and physical health and to follow pathways to reconnection and heallng

If you have teenage girls this is a must read of how to navigate those difficult years and the changes in relationshios inside and outside the house.

This was an okay read, I preferred some of the other books on how the brain works and how to manage your mind, an easy read with some good examples

BRILLIANT - , even if you are not autistic! This is written by a teen for a teen describing all those difficult interactions and stages in a teenage life, giving clear examples of how to navigate difficult situations.

How your upbringing has effected how you bring up your children. It also gives you ideas of how to handle the big emotions and keep the relationship with your child, or how to support your partner with understanding how their upbringing is causing different parenting styles

So after reading this book my family took the love languages test, we were not far off with the guesses, but it has helped us understand each other more. It has also helped me develop my work style to support those who don't feel appreciated

A practical framework of how to work together without bias and respecting peoples individuality and by haing a diverse range of people on your team can make yout team more effective and work in a respoectful way.

Creative problem solving and how working in diverse teams is the way to solve big world problems, like terrorism, obesity and climate change. The books cover a vast range of topics to support your thought process and to look outside you unconscious bias. A slow start but stick with it.
